Flat earth or globe? What does the Bible say?

O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trusts, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called. 1 Timothy 6:20

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Colossians 2:8

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of the world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? ...For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. 1 Corinthians 1:20; 3:19

...yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; ...Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. Romans 3:4; 1:25

The wisdom of man tells us the earth is a globe that travels through the vacuum of space as it orbits around the sun which is at the center of our solar system. But what does the Word of God say?

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void: and darkness was upon the face of the deep. and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis 1:1,2

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. Genesis 1:6-8

And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas. Genesis 1:9-10

Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. Praise him, ye heaven of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created. Psalms 148:3-5

The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. Psalms 24:1-2

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 2 Peter 3:5

Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind: who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. Thou coverdst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the moutains. Psalms 104:2-6

Has thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass? Job 37:18

Scripture says the earth is established on a foundation of beams (or pillars) upon the waters below and covered by a hard mirrored firmament which separates the earth from the waters above.

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:14-19

It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers: that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: Isaish 40:22

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where there voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. Psalms 19:1-6

According to the Word of God, the earth does not move but is firmly established. It is the sun, moon and stars that run their respective circuits, under the firmament of heaven, established and maintained by God. They are not millions of miles away. Nor is God far away, but watches over His creation from His throne above.

Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all the things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee. Nehemiah 9:6

Look down from they holy habitation, from heaven, and bless they people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, Deuteronomy 26:15

Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? And where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. Isaish 66:1,2

Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in a garment? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? Proverbs 30:4

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and his is before all things, and by him all things consist. Colossians 1:15-17

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. all things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. ...And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:1-3, 14
